Justice Squad was founded in 2019 by Ashley Quinones (Brian's wife) after Brian was killed by the Richfield and Edina police. Having no prior knowledge of what to do in the movement she wanted to get Brian's story out and fight for his justice.
Sadness turned into anger and Justice Squad channeled this into power. Attending every city council meeting trying to get answers for months with no communication or response from either Richfield or Edina.
Brian became another name on the scroll of stolen lives. So many names with no justice became very disheartening for the family.
All of Brians friends and family organized and protested to amplify his story. Desperate to find help and people willing to help get any information and justice.
Reality started setting in about the loss of Brian. It was hard for the family to maintain the fighting efforts while grieving. Many community members stepped in to help!
Brians case was dismissed not holding any of the officers liable for his murder.
George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police 5/25/2020 and it rocked the world! Rest in Power George Floyd. Thank you for shedding light and exposing the police for their corruption on our communities.
Justice Squad flew over 100 families who lost loved ones by police to MN from all over the country for a free healing event and solidarity march.
The Secret March was organized with caskets and tombstones of all the lives stolen by police in MN and placed at the capital. Sick and tired is an understatement.
Justice Squad helped to organize and support Lavish Mack's march from Minneapolis where George Floyd was killed all the way to Louisville, KY where Breonna Taylor was killed. Meeting and amplifying stories of other lives killed by police.
2021 started off powerful! Supporting families in their fight and progress in many cases unlike any other time before. We continued to support and amplify stories.
Briana was a founding member of Justice Squad. She helped organize and support all families who lost loved ones by police. She passed away 4/24/21 from COVID-19. This destroyed the spirit and movement in the organization and resulted in a long break for Justice Squad.
Justice Squad started focusing on the youth and how to help them progress with art.
Healing became the number one priority. Justice Squad offered dozens of healing classes free to the community.
Justice Squad Healing Community Garden started. Teaching the community how to grow, preserve, feed, and heal. All free to those in need.
